Working And Job Of A Taxi Driver


Job of taxis and the taxi drivers is to make sure that you get from a specified place to your required location. All the taxi drivers collect the passengers and take them to a certain chosen destination in return for a specific fare. All the professional taxi drivers should have a license from a local authority. There are some certain rules about who can work as taxi driver or who cannot. There are rules regarding when and where they can operate and issue the appropriate licenses and the setting of fares.

Their day to day task and activities include:
  1. Responding to calls made by people.
  2. Ensure the safety of taxi before leaving off.
  3. Dropping and collecting off passengers.
  4. Collecting fare.
  5. Operating the meters.
  6. Using the two way radios for communication.
  7. Issuing the receipt as needed and required.
  8. Taking the rest breaks when needed and required.
  9. Refueling or cleaning the taxi as per requirement.
  10. Keeping the record of mileage covered and journey times.
Here are the two types of licensed vehicles which are used as taxis.

One is Hackney carriages, which has the Black or London Cab, and it can be hailed in street from a taxi rank, while the other is private hire vehicle which is known as mini cabs that must be pre-booked. Both of these types of taxi can pick up passengers within a specific covered area by a local authority. All these taxis have a meter that show the increased level of fare when the journey progresses.
